Home Remedies to cure Flu

Not to be the bearer of bad news but I want to be the first to tell you that there is no more public holiday for the year 🥹. This is just a reminder for you to reset to the normal 5 working days and 1 second weekend and optimize it as much as you can.

Nevertheless, Happy Weekend My dear friend.

If you are a Muslim brother or sister, how did the celebration go? I hope you shared love and meat with your Christian friends? Because you know Mary is already pregnant. Don’t worry, our prayer is that next year will be bigger and better 💃🏽

Today, let us talk about one of the common virus in the raining season, “The Flu”

The flu is a common respiratory illness you get from the influenza virus. Simply put, catarrh and cough. But this does not only come with cough and catarrh as we commonly know. It causes symptoms like head and body aches, sore throat, fever and respiratory symptoms, which can be severe.

Now, how does it spread?

Airborne droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. Direct contact with contaminated surfaces (doorknobs, phones, etc.). Touching your face (nose, eyes, mouth) after contact with the virus.

Have you been experiencing any of the symptoms earlier mentioned? Don’t fret, because I have some home remedies listed below;

  1. Rest; Give your body time to heal.

  2. Hydration; Drink water, herbal teas, broths, and juices to prevent dehydration.

  3. Warm fluids; Help soothe sore throat and loosen mucus (e.g., warm lemon water with honey).

  4. Steam inhalation; Relieves nasal congestion.

  5. Gargling with salt water; Helps ease sore throat.

  6. Honey and ginger; Natural anti-inflammatory and soothing effects.

  7. Over the counter meds (if needed) ; Paracetamol or ibuprofen for fever and body aches.

My dear friend, these home remedies might not always be the solution. So when do you need to visit your doctor?

  1. If you develop difficulty breathing or chest paIn

  2. High fever that doesn’t improve (especially after 3+ days)

  3. Severe weakness, confusion, or dizziness

  4. Persistent vomiting or dehydration (dry mouth, dark urine)

  5. Flu symptoms that improve but suddenly return with worse fever or cough

  6. Worsening of chronic medical conditions (e.g., asthma, heart disease)

Flu can be inconvenient, so you will be doing yourself a huge favour by yielding to my advice.

My dear friend, don’t hoard this information, share with your friends.

See you next week! With love, Wura from The Health City.
