Hepatitis: Symptoms amd Prevention

Do you believe in Happily Every After? Take a moment to think about that.

I know we are not characters in Shrek, but happily ever after does exist. Now it is not a time when everybody in the world will become happy and all we will be doing is dancing and rejoicing at the same time. We are the main characters in our own story so we get to decide when and what our happily ever after looks like.

So My dear friend, be rest assured, your happily ever after should not be measured by your neighbors own, your own will come, in due time.

Welcome to the weekend. Thanks to the Nigerian government who gave us a free Tuesday, we had less days to work this week. So how was your week? This week was chill for me and I hope you had it soft too. Reply this mail, tell me about it.

In a couple of days (28th of July), we will be celebrating World Hepatitis Day 2025. On this day every year, we raise awareness about Viral Hepatitis which is an inflammation of the liver that causes liver disease and can cause liver cancer.

There are various forms of Hepatitis and they can be transmitted through different means such as, contaminated food or water and contact with hepatitis infected blood or semen.

Symptoms such as Fatigue, Nausea or vomiting, Loss of appetite, Fever, Joint or abdominal pain will be noticed in the early stage while Jaundice (yellowing of skin/eyes) , Dark urine , Pale stools , Swollen liver or abdomen and Confusion (in severe cases) may occur at the later stage.

The good news is that these disease is preventable and as they say, prevention is better than cure.

My dear friend, take into consideration the following; Vaccination for Hepatitis B, Practice safe sex, Avoid sharing needles or razors, Drink clean water and eat safe food, Screen blood before transfusion and Use gloves or precautions when handling blood.

It is better safe than sorry, the prevention of Hepatitis is cheaper than its treatment.

So on the 28th join people in your locality by raising awareness about Hepatitis. That exercise starts now, share this mail with someone so we can all live happily ever after.

See you next week.

With love,

Wura from The Health City.
