Female Genital Mutilation: A barbaric practice that needs to end
Do you know that there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens?
Different occurrences happen in life and everything has its own appointed time and one event would eventually pass for another one to unfold.
My dear friend, that thing you are going through shall pass, and a better and brighter future will unfold.
Happy last working day of the week 💃🏽 How was your week? I hope it was better than last week. Don’t worry, it will keep getting better.

Everyday, the world evolves, new occurrences take shape and we as human learn and unlearn things. Surprisingly, there is a barbaric practice that we are yet to completely unlearn/eradicate for some reasons. Although, UNICEF has proposed its eradication by 2030. This practice, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is still happening in Nigeria.
FGM also known as female genital cutting (FGC) or female circumcision, is the partial or total cutting of the female genitals for non-medical reasons.
Sadly, Nigeria is ranked third on the global list of countries with high FGM, accounting for about 10% (20 million) of the over 200 million global cases of females that have had FGM.
Among the chief reasons for this practice are cultural reasons, which include respect for tradition and cultural identity, preventing promiscuity, preserving virginity until marriage and fertility reasons.
My dear friend, imagine what they put innocent girls through in the name of tradition.
And Incase you didn’t know, the reasons this practice is done are null and void, as there is no valid reason why female genital mutilation should be carried out on innocent girls and women.
The article linked below sheds more light on what FGM is, various types, its harms and why it needs to be stopped immediately. It also covers what the law says about it and how you can help in its eradication.
This particular discuss is not one that should stay in your mail, you need to share it as part of your quota in ending FGM.
Spread the news before an innocent girl is put under the knife. Have a great weekend!
With love,
